The Opportunity

We are looking for an Intermediate/Senior Accountant to join our Accounting & Finance team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general accounting functions, including operation of the general ledger system, journal entries, inter-company and month-end accruals, month-end reconciliations and daily bank reconciliations, and month-end close work for all ZE companies.
  • Lead and coordinate monthly closing process to ensure efficient, accurate, complete and on time delivery of the monthly financial reporting packages. Ensure effective communication and collaboration with accounting team, executives and managers.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory filings in a timely and efficient manner. Establish and monitor internal controls and regulatory compliance. Including Balance Sheet reconciliations and clearing actions on a timely basis.
  • Prepare monthly and annual government tax returns and preps information and schedules as needed.
  • Monitor revenues, commissions and expenses to ensure they are collected/paid and recorded appropriately on a monthly basis.
  • Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, perform Month-End closing for Payables and Receivables ensuring that AP and AR are paid and collected on time.
  • Maintain and perform Month-End closing of Prepaid, PPE and Deferred Revenue Schedule.
  • Manage and ensure timely filing of all regulatory filing including PST, GST, VAT and WCB for ZE and related companies.
  • Proactively identifies and develop recommendations for improvement on accounting processes and procedures to incorporate best practice.

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in accounting and/or finance
  • 3+ years of experience in corporate accounting environment
  • IFRS 15 experience along with budgeting & forecasting experience is an asset
  • In late stages of completing Professional Accounting Designation program (CMA/CA/CGA/CPA) or recently completed
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP, and the ability to identify issues and interpret and apply accounting policies
  • High standard of performance, ability to deal with ambiguity and complexities
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, with a very high proficiency in Excel
  • Working knowledge of BillQuick and other accounting ERP software preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong team player; willing to learn and teach
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Highly motivated, proactive, adaptable and enthusiastic
